Every wall outlet has a switch. Before we go tramping, we turn every outlet off. Now those little black boxes cannot waste energy if we leave them plugged in while we are not using the device.
Yea, I was thinking about blogging about the toilets. However, I've seen some like them in the U.S. west. As for the outlets, a standard outlet in the US is about $1USD and adding the switches raises the prices to $14NZD or $8USD; as energy costs rise it will be easier to justify the price.
I really miss the outlet switches. Some inventions the Kiwis use are genius. The half and full toilet flushes are another one.
